The Children's Dilemma in Pakistani families

Updated: Mar 1, 2023

Living in the 21st century it is evident that the world is not the same as it was cannot. Particularly talking about Pakistani society it can be witnessed that our country Pakistan, which was created on the basic Ideology, is not identical to the society as was created by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In this stance, the point of consideration is what has changed and what is still to be altered. What is that major element that is the root cause of hundreds of problems that can be seen in today's youth?

The Unbalance of Religion and Modernism

While raising the questions mentioned above, one thing that knocked my mind was the notion that there is a substantial difference between our country and foreign countries such as the United States.

Based on everything based on religion and stopping our growth, foreign countries step into the unknown and keep on growing. Where we become stagnant by misinterpreting the Quranic teachings in every single domain of life, they keep on moving forward by sticking to the idea of the postmodern world that God has created a world unknown and we are sent here to explore it and The dilemmawledge about it.

Children's Dilemma of Generation Gap in Joint Families

Coming back to the issues faced by the Pakistani youth, the foremost element is the family in which an individual resides.

In our country, the majority of families live in a joint family system in which the upper hand is given to elderly people. Here comes the issue of the generation gap that is widely observed as a cause of serious problems. So what happens is that on the one hand where the youth are running in the rapid-paced world, and on the other hand the people of the previous generation stop them from getting into various things by bringing the ancient rules in between. This has caused and is still causing depression, frustration, stress, anxiety, and peer pThe dilemmas among children.

Children's Dilemma in Nuclear Family System

In contrast to this idea, there resides another class in which the nuclear family system follows. Such are usually upper-middle or elite-class families in which the kids have an individualistic approach, They are bold, confident, and valiant. It is a common thought that such kids never get underestimated by peer pressure because they have a comfortable home environment. Their parents who are the sole holders of the home belong to the same generation and a large extent understands their kids and their problems. This lessens the pressure faced by the youth, especially the kids who are in their teenage years. But still, why do such kids face isolation? Why do they commit suicide? Why do they get indulged in horrible immoral activities?

The toxic element for Youth

Looking further into this notion, it can be seen that every day an immense number of media outlets bring to light many dilemmas prevalent in our youth. Each day we hear various news of kids leaving their, homes, committing suicide, and much more. It is highly alarming that individuals who have hardly lived fifteenlivestwenty years of their lives have become patients of depression. They have nobody to understand and console them. They have nobody to make them realize their worth and importance. They have nobody to listen to them. They are always looking for some shoulder to cry on. They are always seeking a helping hand. And unfortunately, they lose themselves in this search.

Life has become a complicated maze for today’s youth. Not because they move on and face challenges, but because they have a constant fear of the people to whom they belong but who do not belong to them. They stay with those people day and night but still are miles away from them. Even after living under one roof all the individuals fail to understand each other. This failure is not the failure of one person or one family. This is a failure of an entire society.

What can be done?

All the above-mentioned obstacles that have made a mess in the lives of youth must be taken care of and cannot be denied. Youth is the future of a nation and therefore the urgency to solve these issues must be kept as the priority.

For this, the government should take measures by launching awareness campaigns. Not only physical programs but electronic programs should also be launched in which parenting should be taught in line with the requirements of the society and world. Indeed it is not easy to bring revolution in a single day.

But it is for sure that revolution will begin that fine day when the ideology of a sole person will change.
